Senior Frontend Engineer

About the role

In this role, you will manage the frontend architecture for your product area, ensuring high performance and reliability. You will collaborate closely with product and design teams to develop user scenarios such as account management and transaction signing.

You will also be responsible for making technical decisions, documenting them, and maintaining a common UI library used by other teams. Success in this position means delivering a seamless user experience while meeting performance budgets and enhancing the engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the frontend of your product area from task development with product and design teams to implementation, release, and monitoring in production.
• Make technical decisions regarding the frontend and document them.
• Oversee the architecture of frontend applications and the common UI library/SDK used by other teams.
• Ensure measurable quality of the frontend: performance, reliability, and security of user scenarios.
• Design and develop user scenarios: login, account management, wallet onboarding, and transaction signing.
• Monitor the behavior of these scenarios in production (errors, performance, failures) and act based on results.
• Document architectural decisions for frontend applications.
• Develop the common component library and frontend SDK used by other Xsolla teams.
• Coordinate API contracts with backend engineers, including error handling, request retries, and edge cases.
• Be responsible for performance budgets: Core Web Vitals and bundle size.
• Improve the engineering environment: build, linters, tests, CI.
• Conduct code reviews.
• Set up and maintain AI tools in repositories (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) for effective team use.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial frontend development experience.
• TypeScript in strict mode: generics, utility types, discriminated unions, module boundary typing.
• JavaScript at a platform level: event loop, asynchronous programming, closures, memory management.
• Deep experience with React: rendering model, profiling, eliminating unnecessary re-renders.
• Understanding of local, server, and global state separation and justification for tool choice; knowledge of when SSR is justified.
• Semantic, adaptive, cross-browser markup; modern CSS (CSS Modules, CSS-in-JS).
• Accessibility: ARIA, keyboard navigation, screen reader support.
• Performance analysis: profiling, bundle analysis, Core Web Vitals.
• Integration with REST API: error handling, retries and cancellations, contract alignment with backend.
• Basics of web security: XSS, CSRF, CSP, safe handling of tokens, sessions, and user data.
• Testing at the right level: unit, integration, E2E.
• Daily practical use of AI tools for development and review (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor), including repository setup.
• Ability to read technical documentation in English.
• Will be a plus:
• Experience in domains with high security requirements: authentication and identity (OAuth2/OIDC flows on the frontend), payments, crypto wallets.
• Web3 frontend: wallet integration (embedded and browser-based), EIP-1193, EIP-6963, EIP-712; viem, wagmi, ethers.js.
• Next.js or Nuxt, SSR in production.
• Design systems and API component design, UI kits.
• Hybrid applications: WebView, React Native.
