What You'll Do
- Own the design, development, and operation of backend services powering the Coinbase One membership lifecycle, including sign-up flows, subscription management, and recurring payment processing.
- Build scalable platform capabilities that enable targeted benefit delivery, promotional incentives, and personalized membership experiences across the Coinbase retail application.
- Partner with frontend, product, design, and payments teams to scope, ship, and iterate on customer-facing membership features from concept through production.
- Drive backend architecture decisions for the Coinbase One product area, establishing patterns for reliability, extensibility, and integration with broader Coinbase platform services.
- Improve service reliability, observability, and performance across Coinbase One's backend stack, proactively identifying and resolving production issues.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience with a track record of shipping and operating production services at scale.
- Demonstrated experience building subscription, payments, or commerce systems, including recurring billing, entitlements, or promotional logic.
- Proficiency in Go or a similar backend systems language (Java, C++, Rust) with demonstrated ability to adapt to a Go-centric codebase.
- Proven ability to design and maintain APIs and distributed systems that integrate across multiple product surfaces (web and mobile).
- Track record of taking ambiguous projects from scoping through production with minimal oversight, including cross-functional collaboration with product and design partners.
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
Compensation and Notice
- Base salary varies by location (see range below).
- Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
- Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): $186,065—$218,900 USD.
