Position Overview
The Lead of Risk Strategy is a senior leadership role responsible for defining, developing, and executing fraud risk management initiatives. This role focuses on enhancing risk detection capabilities, optimizing risk frameworks, and aligning risk strategy with business growth. The Lead will drive innovation in fraud detection, risk prevention, and compliance collaboration, ensuring the platform's security and integrity while supporting sustainable business expansion.
The role requires strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to manage evolving risk landscapes with agility. The Lead will oversee key risk performance metrics, lead strategic projects, and foster continuous improvement in risk governance and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Risk Strategy Development and Execution
- Define and implement comprehensive risk strategies to mitigate fraud risks across the platform and user base
- Enhance detection scopes for key risk areas such as ATO, credit card fraud, and emerging scam patterns
- Support new business initiatives and product launches with tailored risk strategies and controls
- Continuously improve risk strategy governance in partnership with engineering teams to optimize risk detection and prevention
Performance Management and Metrics
- Monitor and report on critical risk KPIs, to maximize the protection and minimizing the loss
- Oversee risk strategy management and ensure the quality and stability
- Optimize risk cost efficiency, such as vendor cost management and risk strategy management efficiency
Compliance and Regulatory Collaboration
- Provide full support to transaction screening and monitoring and other Compliance requirements through project management and innovation
- Lead strategy initiatives for transaction screening and monitoring optimization, reducing rule complexity while maintaining compliance effectiveness
- Collaborate closely with Compliance teams to explore and support new business scenarios, ensuring risk controls align with regulatory expectations
Team Leadership and Organizational Development
- Lead and manage the risk strategy team, driving organizational changes and management approaches to support business growth
- Foster a culture of agility and responsiveness within the team to meet evolving risk challenges and high-pressure demands
- Identify areas for improvement in team structure and processes, implementing changes to enhance efficiency and scalability
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Leverage advanced technologies, including AI and LLMs, to automate and enhance risk detection and prevention workflows
- Pilot and scale new risk tools and methodologies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory standards
Requirements
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in risk management, fraud prevention, or related strategic roles within fintech, financial services, or technology sectors, particularly in crypto industry
- Proven track record in developing and executing risk strategies that deliver measurable risk savings and operational improvements
- Strong knowledge of fraud detection techniques and compliance requirements
- Experience managing complex projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams including Compliance, Data Science, Engineering, and Product
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to drive organizational change and foster high-performing teams
- Proficiency in data-driven decision making and familiarity with AI/ML applications in risk management is highly desirable
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
