About this role

Join Jump Trading as a Trading Production Engineer to enhance the reliability of trading operations during U.S. hours. Collaborate with quantitative researchers and engineers in a dynamic environment focused on innovation.

Description

Full Job Description

Jump Trading Group is committed to world-class research. We empower exceptional talent in mathematics, physics, and computer science to explore scientific boundaries, push beyond them, and apply cutting-edge research to global financial markets. Our culture is unique. Constant innovation requires fearlessness, creativity, intellectual honesty, and a relentless competitive drive. We believe in winning together and unlocking individual talent through collaboration and mutual respect. At Jump, our research produces more than superior risk-adjusted returns. We design, develop, and deploy technologies that change our world, fund startups across industries, and partner with leading research organizations and universities to solve difficult problems.

One of Jump's established quantitative trading teams is seeking a Trading Production Engineer to provide primary production coverage during U.S. trading hours and improve the reliability of its day-to-day operations. Supporting trading across global markets, this engineer will monitor critical workflows, respond to production issues, and work closely with quantitative researchers and software engineers.

This is an operations-first engineering role. It requires practical systems and coding skills to investigate problems, automate routine work, and implement safe, well-scoped fixes. More complex software changes will be developed in partnership with the team's engineers.

What you’ll do

  • After onboarding, serve as the primary operational point of contact during U.S. trading hours for the team's global production environment
  • Monitor end-to-end trading workflows, including market connectivity, data availability and quality, and scheduled model and optimization processes
  • Respond to alerts, failed jobs, and degraded systems; resolve routine and moderately complex issues independently and partner with developers on deeper problems
  • Develop a broad understanding of the team's systems, dependencies, and trading workflows
  • Maintain and improve monitoring, alerting, documentation, and support processes; automate repetitive work and implement safe, well-scoped code or configuration changes
  • Coordinate regional handoffs and communicate clearly with quantitative researchers, engineers, and middle-office teams
  • Other duties as assigned or needed

Skills you’ll need

  • Experience in production engineering, trade support, systems operations, or a related function; electronic trading experience is preferred but not required
  • Working proficiency with Python, Linux, and shell scripting, including comfort reading and debugging existing code and making tested, well-scoped changes
  • Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, automation, data pipelines, or scheduled production workflows
  • A systematic, calm approach to troubleshooting and sound judgment about when to act independently or involve other engineers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, self-directed working style
  • A genuine interest in production ownership, reliability, and operational improvement
  • Reliable and predictable availability

Benefits

  • Discretionary bonus eligibility
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • HSA, FSA, and Dependent Care options
  • Employer Paid Group Term Life and AD&D Insurance
  • Voluntary Life & AD&D insurance
  • Paid vacation plus paid holidays
  • Retirement plan with employer match
  • Paid parental leave
  • Wellness Programs
