Waymo is seeking a Marketing Lead for the Japanese market to oversee brand strategy, product positioning, and audience targeting, ensuring effective marketing execution in collaboration with global teams.

The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.
Responsibilities
- Lead Waymo's marketing strategy for the Japanese market across brand, product positioning, and audience targeting, overseeing all facets of marketing execution in partnership with our Global Brand, Growth, Creative, and Media teams.
- With our Japan-based agencies, build resonate integrated campaigns, guiding creative, media strategy, budget, and performance management.
- Establish and implement co-marketing guidelines, working closely with local partners to drive Waymo awareness, trust, and ridership.
- Leverage consumer research, cultural context, competitive dynamics, and product feedback to guide Waymo's marketing strategy and creative direction over time.
- Collaborate with Waymo Product, Operations, Policy, and Regulatory teams to ensure alignment on how the product is messaged, managed, and scaled effectively for long-term success.
- Over time, recruit, hire, and oversee a high-performing Japan-based team.
Requirements
- 15+ years in brand, product, and/or partner marketing within a B2C tech or app-based company.
- Proven experience driving customer adoption of new or complex consumer products.
- Deep expertise with the Japan consumer landscape, especially a strong understanding of local consumer needs, culture, and creative.
- Native-level Japanese proficiency and business-level English, with the ability to communicate and persuade at the executive-level.
- Experience managing agencies, setting KPIs, and leading marketing campaigns with accountability for budget and results.
- Willingness to travel at least quarterly to the San Francisco Bay Area for training and collaboration with Global team.
