Database Administration & Operations
- Install, configure, and maintain the company’s database management systems.
- Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexing, and resource utilization.
- Manage backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
- Implement and enforce database security policies in collaboration with the DBA Team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
Collaboration with the DBA Team
- Work closely with the DBA Team to implement the best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process improvements.
- Provide regular updates and reports on database performance, incidents, and upcoming changes.
- Assist in evaluating new database technologies and solutions under the guidance of the DBA Team.
- Participate in team meetings and proactively contribute to database strategy discussions.
High Availability & Scalability
- Support high-availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions, including replication and failover strategies.
- Optimize databases for scalability and efficiency in a growing production environment.
- Collaborate with the DBA Team on capacity planning and future database needs.
Automation & Performance Tuning
- Develop and maintain scripts for automation of routine DBA tasks.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring smooth database operations.
- Work with the DBA Team to enhance database monitoring and alerting systems.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Maintain up-to-date database documentation, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Share knowledge with the other DBA team members.
Experience
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience as a DBA.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server.
- Experience with replication and performance tuning.
- Experience in Linux environment.
Scripting & Automation
- Shell scripting or Ansible for automation.
Monitoring Tools
- Experience with monitoring tools like PMM, Grafana, Nagios, or similar.
Security & Compliance
- Understanding of database security, access controls, and compliance standards.
Problem-Solving
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
Collaboration
- Ability to work effectively with the DBA Team and cross-functional teams.
Certifications
- Nice to have certifications that indicate the candidate is up to date with modern database technologies and best practices.
Availability
- Ability to work on call rotation and provide 24/7 production support.
