Software Engineer, Test

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Engineering & Testing

- Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for UI, APIs, and end-to-end user journeys. - Execute manual and automated testing to validate functionality, reliability, and performance. - Contribute to defining effective test coverage for microservices and mini-app applications. - Identify defects early and ensure high-quality deliverables throughout the development lifecycle. - Support shift-left testing practices by participating early in requirement and design discussions.

• Software Engineering & Technical Contribution

- Develop a solid understanding of frontend and backend systems, APIs, workflows, and microservices architecture. - Contribute to debugging, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting production issues when needed. - Write and maintain test utilities, frameworks, and supporting code using languages such as Java or JavaScript. - Collaborate with developers to improve testability, observability, and overall system quality. - Participate in code reviews and technical discussions from a quality and engineering perspective.

• Collaboration & Teamwork

- Work closely with developers, senior engineers, QA engineers, and product owners to deliver user-focused solutions. - Participate actively in sprint ceremonies, planning sessions, and team discussions. - Support teammates and contribute positively to a collaborative and learning-focused team culture. - Communicate testing progress, risks, and quality concerns clearly and proactively.

• Quality & Best Practices

- Follow best practices in testing, automation, CI/CD, and software engineering. - Ensure good coverage of key user journeys, edge cases, and integration scenarios. - Help improve maintainability and reliability through continuous improvement initiatives. - Contribute to improving testing frameworks, tooling, and engineering practices within the team.

• Learning & Growth

- Continuously expand technical, testing, product, and domain knowledge while embracing new tools, practices, and learning opportunities. - Stay updated with trends in QA, automation, cloud-native systems, and modern development practices. - Explore how AI-assisted tools can improve productivity and testing effectiveness. - Learn from senior engineers and progressively take ownership of larger testing areas and initiatives.

Qualifications

• Required

- 3-8 years of experience in software testing or quality engineering. - Good understanding of software engineering principles and the software development lifecycle. - Familiarity with Java or JavaScript programming. - Understanding of distributed architectures and various synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns and technologies. - Experience with API and UI testing tools/frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, or similar. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and agile development practices. - Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. - A proactive mindset with attention to detail and ownership of quality.

• Preferred

- Experience working with distributed architectures and modern test automation practices. - Strong understanding of databases, SQL, and data validation techniques. - Ability to write and analyze complex SQL queries for testing, troubleshooting, and validating data integrity across systems. - Exposure to containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes. - Familiarity with messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ. - Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). - Strong understanding of performance and security testing. - Basic understanding of AI concepts and an interest in leveraging AI-assisted tools and approaches to improve quality and engineering efficiency.
