Alawar is seeking an experienced Games Scout to identify promising indie games and teams in the PC/Steam market. This role involves scouting, evaluating projects, and building relationships with developers.
Description
Alawar is both a game developer and publisher, with strong in-house development and product expertise. In this role, you’ll work closely with experienced producers, developers, and business development professionals, bringing promising opportunities into the company and helping shape our publishing pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Scout promising indie games and studios across Steam, festivals, industry events, communities, accelerators, and other relevant channels
- Evaluate projects from a product and commercial perspective: gameplay loop, audience, genre dynamics, competitors, market fit, and key risks
- Monitor Steam trends, emerging mechanics, successful releases, and signals from short-form gaming content and creators
- Build and maintain relationships with developers and introduce strong teams to Alawar
- Prepare clear recommendations and present promising opportunities to our producers and BD team
- Grow a strong professional network across the indie ecosystem and represent Alawar at conferences and industry events
Requirements
- Have experience scouting PC/Steam titles, ideally with a track record of projects they personally discovered and helped bring to a publisher
- Have deep knowledge of the indie PC market and strong gaming expertise across genres
- Can separate personal taste from product and commercial potential
- Understand Steam analytics and use external market intelligence tools
- Have strong networking and communication skills and are comfortable proactively approaching developers
- Work independently and know how to build their own scouting pipeline rather than rely on predefined sources
- Are fluent in both English and Russian
